The people of CDN-NDG have chosen! The results of online and paper votes have identified 5 winning projects that will be realized with a budget of $500,000. Your choice:

  1. Local food market - $150,000
  2. Pollinator oasis - $75,000
  3. Microforest - $40,000
  4. Beautifying sidewalks on Queen-Mary - $100,000
  5. Outdoor exercise stations - $135,000*

2,465 of you cast your ballot online, at one of our 9 voting stations or via our Participative Boutique.

The success of this 2nd edition is due to your increased interest in improving your neighborhood. From the 385 ideas received at stage 1 last March, throughout stages 2 and 3 you interacted to turn ideas into projects. Thank you for your participation, which will help improve access to healthy food, the environment, the well-being of common spaces and recreational facilities.

The next step? Your borough is committed to carrying out the 5 projects chosen by the public. The winning projects from the first edition are well advanced. Two projects have already been completed!

Read the Final Report of the 2024 Participatory Budget (French only).

*In order to stay within the total budget of $500,000, the cost of the Outdoor Exercise Stations project has been reduced. This will make it possible to carry out the 5 projects prioritized by the public during the vote.

The first step in the PB, from March to April, is aimed at gathering ideas spanning a diversity of perspectives from borough residents and organisations, for high-benefit projects that will promote greater well-being in our neighbourhoods.

What inspires you? What would you do differently?

It's up to you to propose the idea which you think could improve well-being in CDN-NDG!

The different ways to participate to Step 1:

    • By attending the participatory workshops on April 27
    • Through the Making Montreal platform (closed since April 14)
    • By hosting your own workshop in your community, using the BP downloadable hosting kit (closed since April 14)
    • In one of our collection points : libraries and arts centers, sport centers, arenas and in the Accès Montréal Office (closed since April 14)

The ideas generated during the 1st step will be reviewed and grouped together during the Collaboration step so that they can be transformed into projects. The projects will then be perfected and finalised prior to the collective choice. Every step of the way will be participatory, so meet us all year long, online and in person in the workshops!

The Participatory Budget (PB) is a process whereby residents of a locality are given the power to decide on the use of part of a public budget, by gathering to discuss, create and select projects aimed at improving their quality of life.

For its second Participatory Budget, Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce invites residents and business owners to draw on their expertise to co-create and choose projects for improving well-being in the borough’s neighbourhoods.

The chosen projects will be implemented within 2 years of the popular vote held from September to November 2024.

The third edition of the Participatory Budget will take place in 2025. The borough intends to make the Participatory Budget – an innovative public participation process – a highly anticipated and galvanizing annual initiative for all people who live or have a shop in the borough.

You can consult this page to find out about the projects that came out of the previous edition in 2023.
