    Develop rest areas and install new equipment for bikers in seven boroughs across the city. This project will make biking more enjoyable, namely by adding:

    - rest areas
    - improved signalling and lighting in certain areas
    - bike repair stations
    - water fountains
    - lockers to park bikes safely

    • L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève (specific locations to be determined)
    • Outremont (exit of Édouard-Montpetit metro station, MIL district)
    • Pierrefonds–Roxboro (near the REM)
    • Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles (Roussin community centre area and/or Parc Armand-Bombardier)
    • Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie (des Carrières bike path)
    • Saint-Léonard (civic pole)
    • Verdun (specific locations to be determined)

    Budget: $8.85 million

    Add landscaping to the curb extensions along the streets that cross Rue Notre-Dame Est. This will allow for a more enjoyable and safer walk along this street.

    • Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (Rue Notre-Dame Est, north side, between Avenue Rougemont and Avenue Clarence-Gagnon, as well as between Avenue Haig and Rue Beauclerk)

    Create “school squares” in three boroughs, where segments of streets near schools will be landscaped with additional vegetation, and measures will be taken to slow traffic for children to get around safely. Urban furniture and additional vegetation will also make the squares aesthetically pleasing. During the summer months, the plants and trees will provide protection from heat, to avoid temperatures rising more than in other areas of the city. These squares will become play and meeting areas of neighborhood residents.

    • Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie (specific locations to be determined)

    Build safe and well-lit bike shelters near various metro and train or REM stations. This will encourage public transportation users to begin and end their commute by bike. These users will also be reassured to know that their bike is parked safely as they continue their commute to their destination.

    • Lachine (Lachine station)
    • Le Plateau-Mont-Royal (Place Gérald-Godin)

    • Montréal-Nord (specific locations to be determined, namely near the Pie-IX express bus service)
    • Saint-Laurent (near Côte-Vertu metro station)

    Install bike parking lots near busy locations in five boroughs. These include such places as community centres, sports centres, arenas, libraries or cultural centres. This new equipment will encourage citizens to opt for biking as a means of transportation to and from their recreational activities in their neighborhood.

    • LaSalle (Complexe aquatique Michel-Leduc (Aquadôme))
    • Le Sud-Ouest (various locations near parks, libraries and sports centres)

    • Saint-Léonard (near the civic pole)

    Improve the appearance of the Plateau-Mont-Royal overpass by adding vegetation and vines along the walls, colorful murals, as well as street lighting in the darker areas. The circuit will thus be more enjoyable for pedestrians and bikers who use the overpass.
